The Dangers of Overgeneralisation in Everyday Thinking

The error of drawing global conclusions from one or more events is called overgeneralisation. When you find yourself getting train of thoughts such as : "I failed this one exam, so I'll never be good at studying," or "That person was rude, so all strangers must be inconsiderate" , you may well be overgeneralising . Overgeneralisation can reinforce negative thinking patterns , particularly in anxiety and depression.
